Donald Hilvert is emeritus Professor at the Laboratory of Organic Chemistry at ETH Zurich. The Hilvert group’s research interest is chemical biology and protein engineering. The protein engineering part concerns enzymes as well as encapsulation and delivery systems. They developed a protein cage which can be used for e.g. delivering RNAs up to the size of siRNAs. For the development of the protein nano cage for drug delivery, they were among the finalists of this year's ETH Spark award.
