Upon a mandate by the Federal Council, the SNSF launched a National Research Programme (NRP) to advance the understanding of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19). Among the 28 projects selected for funding, three projects include labs of the NCCR RNA & Disease network:
- "Rapid Hybrid Structure Determination of Coronavirus Protein-RNA Complexes as a Basis for Drug Screening for the Treatment of COVID-19” by Frédéric Allain and Alexander Leitner
- "An optimized prophylactic mRNA vaccine against coronavirus disease 2019” by Steve Pascolo
- "Development of a microfluidic platform for real-time detection of SARS-CoV-2 virus based on multifunctional silica membrane biosensors” by Sandrine Gerber, Igor Stefanini and Francesco Bertoni
