"Career Development and Application Training"
The NCCRs Kidney.CH and RNA & Disease will organize the 3rd Joint NCCR Workshop: "Career Development and Application Training" at the Hotel Urs und Viktor in Bettlach from October 4.-6., 2017.
The workshop will be held by professional trainers from hfp-consulting, who have a high reputation in their field and have been working together with institutions such as EMBL, PRBB the Harvard Medical School and many more.
This training is an opportunity to accompany young scientists during the decision-making process: from identifying your transferable skills to acquiring new competences essential for today's challenges in the scientific world and, finally, to determine what triggers a specific career choice. A key step in the career of a scientist is to undergo interviews and application processes. Knowing how to identify suitable job opportunities and how to prepare for the selection process will reduce the stress associated to it and increase its efficiency. These aspects are traditionally not taught in academic training and we aim at filling this gap.
In the workshop you will:
- Develop your competence profile
- Define career goals
- Learn about skills, interests and values: why are you doing science and what for?
- Learn about the job interviews: a clear framework to finding the right match
- Train to answer interview questions
- Learn how to take action: tools and tips to kick off your career
Places are limited to 8 persons per NCCR and will be granted by „first come first serve“. The participation fee of CHF 200/participant is obligatory and includes accommodation and all meals. Travel expenses are not covered by the NCCR.
The workshop is open to all members of NCCR RNA & Disease labs and members of associate groups as well as members of the NCCR Kidney.CH.
